Attention coffee shop owners here in the Philippines, this new business idea will give you an edge. When a plastic lid is heated from a hot beverage it emits a scent of plastic. Even a hint of plastic odor will adversely affect the coffee. The problem is hot beverages create thermal waves that hit the coffee lid and cause it to release this undesirable smell.

Here is a hi-tech and catchy coffee vending machine that will surely attract coffee drinkers in upper-class area in the country. The large screen using an LCD monitor is interactive in mixing your own coffee mix. The picture above is made by Douwe Egberts, the market leader in tea and coffee in the U.S. with its conceptual BeMoved vending machine.

Using BeMoved’s touch screen, you can drag and drop different ingredients into your coffee (cream, sugar, hazelnut syrup, etc.), and check share prices, weather forecasts, and real-time news while it pours.

You can also upload a photo of yourself, and save your preferences in a personal profile. That way, BeMoved can dispense your signature blend with a single touch. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous (or judgmental), you can even try a coworker’s.

Alas, test markets haven’t been announced yet.
