A month ago, I got to try the Ford Ranger Wildtrak for a weekend which is designed to be an outdoor workhorse pickup truck. This time I got the chance to drive and experience the ride of the Ford Ranger top of the line pickup truck, the Ford Ranger Raptor. In short saying “it’s the beast”.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is the top of the line pickup trucks of the Ford Ranger series here in the Philippines. It is wider and taller than the other Ford Ranger pickup truck series with its unique different suspension.

During my test drive when I first climbed in the wheel, I said wow! I had a commanding view of the road and the other cars around me, I can even look under the other pickup trucks. You might think that it would be difficult to climb up, well it’s actually very easy because of its very huge step board that your foot can move comfortably.

I drove the Raptor around Bukidnon via Talakag, Bukidnon, and passed by the winding and scenic view of Miarayon, the food basket of fresh vegetables in Mindanao. I traversed the foggy scenic road between two of the highest mountains in the Philippines, the Mt. Kitanglad mountain ranges and Mt. Kalatungan mountain ranges.

The terrain is a paved road with winding and steep roads going up this mountainous place but the Raptor handled it very well, with its twin-turbo it easily climbed the steep winding roads of Mearayon, Bukidnon. When going off the highway sometimes to go to a scenic place like a hill in rough unpaved roads, the Raptor handled it well too even on a very muddy road as it was raining when we went there.

We stopped by the famous and the only few restos in the area, the “Café sa Bukid” to have lunch and grabbed some strawberry desserts which they locally grow just beside their resto. From there we proceeded to Malaybalay City, the capital of the Province of Bukidnon passing by the Aglayan rotunda which is the converging point from Lantapan, Bukidnon, and Valencia City, Bukidnon.

In Malaybalay City, we stopped by the Monastery of Transfiguration to say some prayers on its pyramid-shaped chapel. We bought some Monks Blend Coffee which is grown locally and produced by the Monks of the monastery itself.

The ride going all around the whole of Bukidnon for a whole day trip was comfortable and easy with minimal body roll even with a lifted suspension. You will not expect that riding a huge pickup truck will be comfortable since most pickup truck suspensions are designed to be for cargo loading but the Raptor’s suspension is so easy that you feel like riding in a regular car that is huge. For me, the Ford Ranger Raptor is a lifestyle truck that is built for tough, fast and so good looking.
